Shuffle Up And Deal – WSOP 2011 Gets Started Today

At noon today, the first event of the 2011 World Series of Poker* will kick off with the traditional $500 Casino Employees No-Limit hold 'em tournament. After that, the $25,000 Heads Up No-Limit Hold'em Championship, featuring a maximum of 256 players will begin at 5:00. This year features 58 events, ranging from the Casino Employees event's $500 buy-in to the $50,000 Poker Player's Championship.

Of note is the fact that this year futures the first-ever set of rematches, taking place this Thursday. Chris Moneymaker and Sammy Farha are going to recreate the 2003 final hands in a best 2-out-of-3 format as Johnny Chan and Phil Hellmuth, both a little older and wiser, replay the final hands of the 1989 WSOP Main Event. There's also a third rematch that's not been announced yet, but it will air on ESPN late this July.

The $10,000 Main Event gets underway on July 7th and you can qualify for a seat with Bodog Poker as late as June 20th. Find out how to qualify for the WSOP Main Event online and you can wing your way to Vegas – on us!
