2011 NCAA Football Houston Cougars Preview and Betting Odds

When the Houston Cougars begin their 2011 season they'll have Case Keenum at quarterback, and that's why they're selected as the favorites on the NCAA football odds at the Bodog Sportsbook to win Conference USA this season.

Keenum suffered a torn ACL against UCLA in Houston's third game of the season last year, and the Cougars then suffered through a miserable campaign that saw them go 5-7 and fail to become bowl eligible.

The NCAA granted the quarterback another year of eligibility and he will be back to the guide the team's offense this season. In his last full season in 2009, Keenum threw for 5,671 yards with 44 touchdowns and 15 interceptions.

That's the kind of numbers that Houston faithful are banking on this year as their team tries to win the conference. At the Bodog Sportsbook the Cougars are listed as the 7/4 favorites on the odds board to win Conference USA this season, ahead of Southern Mississippi (3/1), Central Florida (4/1), and each of UAB, SMU, and Tulsa (8/1).

East Carolina (20/1), Rice (25/1), Marshall (28/1), Tulane (50/1), Memphis (66/1), and UTEP (66/1) are the conference longshots.

As well, the Cougars are also the favorites to win the Conference USA West Division at 4/5 on that college football odds board right now, with SMU and Tulsa at 33/10, Rice at 10/1, Tulane at 20/1, and UTEP at 25/1.

And as for Keenum himself, he's at 35/1 on the Heisman Trophy odds for this season. Houston opens its season at home against UCLA on Saturday, September 3.
